Marching for Imam Hussain

Processions (Juloos) in the holy months of Muharram and Safar have traditionally taken place in public by mourners of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) for centuries. The aim of such processions is to carry on the public relations work which was started by Lady Zainab and the holy women in Karbala, and create awareness of Imam Hussain's sacrifice and his message.

Everyday Lessons from Karbala

Islamic Insights - We've all heard the joke – or complaint, if you will – about Shias only practicing our beliefs for that one month of Muharram. Some even say it is only for 10 days that most Shias care to even dedicate ourselves to our religion – many will stop listening to music, many will not wear colors, some will even fast, the list can go on. Yet we have all heard:       Every day is Ashura, every land is Karbala.

Karbala and Youth

"I have not come out to stir emotions, to play with oppression. I want to bring the Ummah back to the path of Amr-bil-Marouf & Nahi Anil Munkar. I want to lead them to the path of my Grandfather and my father Ali Ibne Abi Talib." – reads a letter from Imam Husain (peace be upon him) to his brother, Mohammad-e-Hanafiya, when the latter told him that the Makkans and other pilgrims were wondering why he was leaving just one day before the Hajj. The letter not only explained our Imam’s condition and position clearly but also showed us the way to lead a life fearlessly.
